Visualizing Government Debt

Part 1: Working with web-based visualization tools and data

Taking data from OECD’s website on general government debt

Part 2: Working with Flourish

Using Flourish helps create a data visualization to interpret the data. Since we have a lot of different countries to explore across a number of different years, let’s use a line chart, but then turn it into a grid of line charts. Using grid of line charts helps

Part 3: Experimenting with Flourish

To try another visual style I used Treemap, in order to cluster the countries by range I introduced another value in the data called category, in the category column I was able to arrange the countries into 5 ranges ( 0-50, 50-100 and so forth), this also helped to color the values so that the countries with the highest debt ratios were made darker. The treemap visual helps cluster the countries by category and see the ratios of each country against each other using size are reference.
